What??  These step-in dragon and horse costumes are great, though I can’t help thinking they’re maybe a bit too elaborate.  It’s important for kids to create things with their own imagination.  Still, cute.

This is a doll I made in 2009 from a Mimi Kirchner pattern via the Purl Bee.  The embroidery floss on the bottom of her dress is looking a bit ratty now, but I still like how her face came out.

My niece Emerson wearing a super quick Batman/Batgirl costume I made Sunday when she was over.  I love how she looks like a lost and confused superhero in the first photo!  The second one is a result of me asking if she wanted to do a Batgirl pose.
She wanted the bat symbol to be made out of cat hair (I have a jar of hair from George’s brush)…it’s abstract, ok?  We were on a time limit!

My sister-in-law claimed the lamb softie, who moved to her new home last night.  I gave her a bow and added lace and buttons to the skirt…she is greatly improved.

Well that’s unfortunate.  I attempted to make the “portuguese plaid” dog from the softies book.  I only stuffed it partway and obviously didn’t finish it because it’s just…the head is too big and it’s puffy and weird.   

hannakinart: I altered this giraffe doll to be auctioned off at a charity auction for the not for profit organisation Seven Women which provides skills, training and employment for disabled women in Nepal to become self sufficient by making craft. It was much fun! All the profits went back into the charity. A giraffe turned into a dragonesque/fantasy creature is definitely the best makeover ever.  Ahh, so cute, so awesome!

Adventures in cloth dyeing: flower edition!
1. Gather flowers
2. Mash
3. Squeeze out juice
4. Dye stuff!

They’ve faded a bit after they dried, but are still lovely shades.  I love the unevenness in color as opposed to a purchased piece of cloth.  I even tried out a mini tie dye (the last piece of cloth on the right)!
