I like: illustrated recipes!

Cloud cookies.  Ice cream cake.  Cinnamon Swirl Cake.

Mango, pineapple and strawberry juice sounded delicious for a sore throat I had.  A bit of vanilla ice cream was added for creaminess!

Ice cream drumsticks seem like they should bring up fond childhood memories for me, but that’s not possible if I’ve never eaten one!  Baking Bites has a delicious-looking homemade version, and is certainly more visually appealing than how mine turned out.  Maybe I didn’t put enough butter in the chocolate because it poured on extremely thick, too thick to bite into.  I lifted the chocolate dome off (it was wobbly!) and melted ice cream poured down the cone/my hand, leaving a little runt of an ice cream dome behind.
I tried, anyway.

I was craving a graham cracker crust and decided to make experimental mini ice cream cakes.  I made three basic flavors, a vanilla, a chocolate, and two strawberries.  The other three were made my mixing other things into vanilla or chocolate ice cream.  From top left to right: cinnamon honey, banana topped with a layer of peanut butter (also mixed into vanilla ice cream), and peanut butter chocolate. My favorites?  Probably the cinnamon honey and peanut butter chocolate!

In the beginning of the month my sister and I tried out a new frozen yogurt bar near us.  I couldn’t decide which yogurt to get, so I managed to squeeze three into one cup: berry-licious sorbet, new york cheesecake, and birthday cake.  The berry was a bit tart but the other two were great.  I went a bit overboard with the toppings…let’s see, I had: raspberries, brownies (were dry), cookie dough (should have been smaller chunks), graham cracker crust, chocolate syrup, chocolate chips, and there might be either oreos or reese’s buried under there, I’m not sure. Before Kiwi, I tried The Skinny Dip.   I would say Kiwi has more yogurt flavors, I really like their colored spoons and the decor was awesome (hot pink chairs, green walls with huge kiwis painted on).  The Skinny Dip was cheaper (probably just due to location), they have super small cups for the purpose of tasting frozen yogurt flavors before you fill up your cup, and they also offer a smaller cup size than Kiwi.  (The yogurt is priced by weight, and obviously you don’t have to fill your cup up to the brim, but when your eyes are bigger than your stomach…)To anyone who hasn’t tried one yet, look up frozen yogurt bars in your area.  They’re so fun!  I love how I don’t have to wait in line and be hassled to pick what I want.  That’s always a challenge.  I’m very indecisive.

I had a craving for strawberries on ice cream, so I did something about it!  I threw on some blueberries too, but they tasted kinda weird with the ice cream.

I was craving hot fudge sundaes after seeing a recipe in a Martha Stewart Living magazine, and I improvised.  Hot fudge has heavy cream in it, which I don’t have, and I tend not to make things that call for whole milk and heavy cream.
Instant Hot FudgeMelt chocolate chips.  Spoon over ice cream.  Hurry up and eat it before the chocolate freezes.
As you can see, from the time it took for me to take a decent picture, the chocolate had already frozen.  But I tried.  (And it was still good.)

Blast from the past picture, because tonight I had a warm gooey brownie with dark chocolate ice cream!  Uhh so good.

My mom’s homemade strawberry ice cream.  So creamy.

I came back inside from picking blueberries, and ate some with vanilla ice cream and strawberries!

Oh, apple crisp.  Why do you have to be so good?  You take too long to make and disappear into stomachs way too fast.(Though, this time I didn’t peel the apples….it takes too long.  And that way the nutrition from the peel stays in!)

Some things just don’t photograph well.

And that includes incredibly creamy black raspberry ice cream with sliced & sugared homegrown strawberries.  Ah, well.  They were quite delicious!
(Eaten last night).

Eh.  Just eh.  That is how homemade thin mints taste.  Yeah, wow….there actually is a store-bought cookie that tastes better than homemade!
Solution?  I ground them up in the food processor and made a little crust to put ice cream in (Ben & Jerry’s Cake Batter ice cream…softened, stirred, and re-frozen.)  The cookies tasted much better that way!
I’m kind of obsessed with those rainbow sprinkles right now.  Hee.
