What??  These step-in dragon and horse costumes are great, though I can’t help thinking they’re maybe a bit too elaborate.  It’s important for kids to create things with their own imagination.  Still, cute.

Before making the monster cookies, we made a costume.  She wanted batgirl but ended up creating her own superhero for me to sew.  She’s called Pretty Girl and she farts rainbows!

I bought some candy eyes and made monster cookies with my niece Emerson weekend before last.  While helping to make the sugar cookies, she was warming up the eggs to see if baby chickens would come out, and a few minutes after I told her not to hold them too tight we had an exploding egg problem!  Egg white on the chair, egg white on the floor, and in the palms of her hands.  Her expression while holding the egg white was hilarious…

My niece Emerson wearing a super quick Batman/Batgirl costume I made Sunday when she was over.  I love how she looks like a lost and confused superhero in the first photo!  The second one is a result of me asking if she wanted to do a Batgirl pose.
She wanted the bat symbol to be made out of cat hair (I have a jar of hair from George’s brush)…it’s abstract, ok?  We were on a time limit!

Here is the bug beach I made with my niece Emerson and my sister.  After showing Emerson the different kinds of moss growing on the bricks, she had the idea of turning it into a beach just for bugs!  We drew umbrellas and flowers and taped a stick to the back so we could poke them into the ground.  The bugs have beach chairs and towels, which they needed after taking a swim in the (bowl of) water.

A weekend with my niece: we made triple chocolate brownie cookies and had M&M pancakes for dinner (I taught her how to properly fluff up flour!).  We talked about a birthday party next month for my cat, and made him two presents (“Shhh!  We can’t let him hear!”), one a cloth version of him, and the other a trap made of string to catch any bad cats that might try to harm him.  We collected flowers and dyed cloth with them, and made a beach just for bugs, right on the back porch.  
My hips are still sore from our long swinging session…there should be swings for non-kid hips!  Oh, and I learned she goes #1 out of her armpit and #2 out of her mouth.
