I bought club soda to make this Honey Chamomile Soda, but was distracted by other drink possibilities.  I mixed pineapple and orange juice and added club soda.  I made old fashioned ice cream soda using homemade chocolate syrup (because Hershey’s is gross).  I remembered about the honey chamomile drink with just enough soda to make a half recipe, which was fine seeing as I didn’t want to use a whole cup of honey.  I only used half of the honey in the halved recipe (1/4 cup), and it was still very sweet.  It’s different.  It’s good.

VICTORY IS MINE!  Oh chai tea, how I love you…I’m a fan of Oregan Chai Tea Concentrate, but my homemade attempts over the last few years have been less than satisfactory, much less.  Some recipes were too peppery, some had no taste, and some were just…bleh.  This winning recipe makes my tongue so happy.  It’s nice and strong and has a nice orange taste to it from the orange zest!  If I had Oregan Chai again it would probably taste really weak now, especially since I double up on some of the spices.  I’ve been drinking this tea almost every morning since I first made it a month ago, so I also have the recipe memorized!
Spiced Chai ConcentrateMy changes:
3 sticks cinnamon instead of one
Ground ginger (not sure that I like the fresh)
2 cardamom pods
A handful of anise seeds
Double the cloves
2 peppercorns
And black tea is the way to go, not green. It tasted great with (cooled) melted truffles on my graham crackers.

An art journal page (the first one in a while)!  I started saving the tags from my family’s tea consumption, at first not knowing what I would do with them.  I have a bit of a collecting compulsion.  I see something I like or that sparks a hint of an idea, and before long I have a new collection.  My friends can attest to it; my whole room is one big collection.  Anyway, eventually the idea of a tea tag collage crept into my brain, and here is the result.  Also used: a tea colored distress ink pad, a sticker from the Japanese tape packaging, pen, and a deer cut out of a sticky note (which is hot pink, but the scanner messed up the color).

I had this for dinner one night.  Toasted bagel, egg, provolone cheese, and ham.  That’s some chai tea in the back, the best recipe I’ve tried.  It’s from Williams-Sonoma, but I tweaked the recipe quite a bit.

I tried these British shortbread cookies for the first time.  They should be gross, I mean, you pick one up and it smells like a stick of butter.  But…..they were delicious!  110 calories each (om nom).Like my thrifted teapot?  It’s soo tiny!
